Last Updated: January 22, 2026

Welcome to Qin. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.

Collection of Your Information

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Application includes:

  • Personal Data: Personally identifiable information, such as your name, and email address, that you voluntarily give to us when you register with the Application using Google Sign-In.
  • Location Data: Information you provide to create a "Qin" location, such as a name and physical address. We use the Google Maps Geocoding API to convert this address into latitude and longitude coordinates, which are stored with your location.
  • Scan Data: When a QR code is scanned, we collect information about the scan, including the location ID, the identity of the scanner (if logged in), and the scanner's browser-provided geolocation coordinates (if permission is granted).
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) Tokens: If you grant permission for push notifications, we collect and store an FCM token associated with your device to send you notifications.

Use of Your Information

Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Application to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Generate QR codes for the locations you define.
  • Send you notifications (via push, email, or webhook) when your QR codes are scanned.
  • Display a history of scan events for your locations.
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Application.
  • Ensure the security of our service, for example by validating check-in proximity.

Disclosure of Your Information

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for their commercial purposes.

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

  • By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We use third-party services for essential application functionality. This includes Firebase for database hosting, authentication, and messaging, and the Google Maps Platform for geocoding. These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. Our application is built on the Firebase platform, which provides robust security for data in transit and at rest. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.

Policy for Children

We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
